Turning to Solar Power for your home

Turning to Solar Power for your home.

Solar power is fast becoming the No. 1 choice for many home owners.

Many homeowners are now turning to solar power to help generate their own solar power from the sun for their homes.

These solar panel systems allow you to install a series of solar panels on your home that can generate enough free power to lower, or even eliminate your monthly/quarterly electricity bill.

Due to improvements in technology solar panels have become much more efficient and less expensive.

The good news is that no matter which of the solar panel kits you decide to use, you will soon be able to enjoy the free power the sun provides.

At Select Solar we have ready-to-install high power (kW) on-grid kits available for houses & homes (and other large solar energy projects).
The kits contain everything you need including solar panels, the inverter and mounting brackets. We also can help with any Bespoke Kit Design for any larger off grid systems.
All our kits are MCS certified.
We sell a whole range of kits and we do supply other makes and models that are not always listed, so please phone us so we can source any panels that you do not see on our site.

How does solar technologies benefit you?

What’s so great about solar energy technologies?

There are two types of solar technologies which can be installed within your home– solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and solar thermal hot water systems. While SOLAR THERMAL panels heat your hot water, SOLAR PV panels will generate electricity for the home and are far and away the most widespread type of renewable technology.

A classic solar PV system for your home will be capable of producing around 40% of the electricity a home will use in a year and save in the region of 20% of a home’s annual carbon footprint. Costs to install the technology have come down considerably over the last twelve months.

Solar thermal panels are available in two ‘types’, flat plate collectors and evacuated tubes. During the warmer summer months solar thermal hot water heating could meet most of your home’s hot water needs, but it will be less during the cold winter season.

Aside from helping to reduce your home’s energy bills and cut your carbon footprint, by installing solar panels you will also be able to benefit financially from Government incentives such as the  FEED-IN TARIFF (solar PV) and the RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE (solar hot water) which were introduced to encourage the uptake of these renewable technologies by paying people to produce their own renewable electricity and heat.

London to benefit from Green Deal

The cross borough project will see residents in Haringey and neighbouring Islington receive free home energy assessments to determine what measures would be worthwhile implementing to reduce their energy bills. For example, this could be double glazing, loft and cavity wall insulation or fitting any energy saving new boiler. The free survey – which in normal circumstances could cost anything up to £150 – will assess the property’s energy efficiency and identify a suitable range of measures for the householder. If interested, residents will be put in touch with Government approved Green Deal providers who are responsible for offering a package of measures, as well as arranging for a Green Deal approved installer to carry out the work.
Part of the funding will be utilised to establish a network of approved Green Deal installers across Haringey, Islington, Enfield and Waltham Forest. In the meantime the council will engage community groups and local businesses to help them get the message out to the community.
“This funding will help us reach those households that might not know how they could improve fuel and energy efficiency in their homes and businesses, as well as saving money,” said Haringey Councillor, Joe Goldberg.
